1-Day Urban Immersion Experiences

Join us at Open Door Ministries for a 1-Day Urban Immersion Experience with your group!

This is a great opportunity to get a taste of urban ministry while learning about the ODM neighborhood and the unique issues facing our community. Your experience can include any combination of two or three of these activities. To compensate for staff time and support ODM, we do charge a $20/person fee for this day experience (minimum $200 per group). 

Poverty Scavenger Hunt
Groups will set out in teams of 4-5 people to complete various tasks and interact with people experiencing homelessness to learn more about what it's like to live below the poverty line in Denver. Duration: 2 Hours

Lunch at an Ethnic Restaurant

Experience riding the city bus to Mango House, a nonprofit that supports refugees. We will eat at a food court that has restaurants from 6 different cultures (Ethiopia, Burma, Syria, etc.). Bus tickets will be provided, but group will be responsible for paying for lunch on their own.

Prayer Walk
An Open Door staff member or pastor will lead a prayer walk through the neighborhood and tell stories at different locations, giving the group opportunities to pray for various issues facing our city. Duration: 1.5 Hours

Homeless Outreach
Go through an outreach training with Open Door staff and then head downtown to have meaningful conversations with people experiencing homelessness in Civic Center Park and surrounding areas. Duration: 3 Hours
